HELP! Trying to hook up receiver / speakers

Hello ******. I really could use some assistance here. I am trying to hook up my speaker system to my receiver / vizio plasma / dvd , etc. Here is what i have....

1) Vizio 42" plasma (1 HDMI)
2) DTV HD box (1 HDMI)
3) Philips DVD player (upconverting w/HDMI)
4) Denon reciever (older model)
5) 5 speakers (2 insignia fronts .....1 bose center.....2 bose surrounds)

Currently, i have this setup......

DTV ------> Vizio (via component)

Philips DVD --------> Vizio (via HDMI)

Please, could someone help me get through this....i am just feeling overwhelmed with this. I just tried to connect it all, and didnt get any sound.

hook all the audio into receiver then the video into the tv

then just switch inputs on the receiver for the video source selected.



or if your receiver is advanced enough hook the video into it and run one hdmi cable into the tv

you mention old so most likely this wont work.

anyway do the first one and go from there its pretty easy


also if you can use optical audio do that or the other one the name slips my mind if your receiver supports digital audio.

DTV ------> Vizio (via component)

Philips DVD --------> Vizio (via HDMI)

You should swap these making sure that you hook up your HD component (DTV) via HDMI.
